*More About Taylor*
I feel like a lot of people want to change to become their best self but don’t know where to begin. That's where I come in! As your therapist, I strive to make therapy a safe and open space for you to share, process, and ultimately grow. Therapy can often be intimidating but I want your experience in therapy with me to be holistic, collaborative, and authentic.
*What To Expect from Our Work Together*
You can expect to be welcomed into a space that allows you to openly feel all emotions and be supported as you work through the process of improving your mental health and well-being. I believe we both should bring our authentic selves to therapy in order to promote healing and growth, as I know building relationships and connections are the most important and powerful parts of the work I do.
When it comes to treating trauma, I believe that self-compassion and accountability are key. I will always approach you with compassion and empathy but also expect healthy boundaries and accountability to foster change. That means I’ll call it like I see it! You can expect to be challenged by me in session as well as feeling understood and supported as I will be your advocate and cheerleader during your journey.
*What You Need to Know About Me*
If I could describe myself in three words it would be expressive, authentic, and silly. I’m originally from Southern California, I was born in San Diego and raised in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, so I guess technically I’m a valley girl too. Being from Southern California, I have an unconditional love for the sun, beach, and Mexican food. As much as I love my hometown, I decided to move far away for college with the dreams of being a civil rights attorney.
I attended the University of Alabama and received my BA in Political Science with a minor in African American Studies. Even though I experienced my fair share of culture shock in Tuscaloosa, AL I learned a lot about myself and met some incredible people. After college I moved to Texas and had some retail jobs but did not feel challenged or fulfilled. From there, I decided to pursue a career in mental health and received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University. Days before the Covid-19 Pandemic I moved to Chicago with my cat, Blanche, who is named after one of the best Golden Girls. Four years later, I am still here, and I am so thankful to call Chicago my home.
