*More About Megan*
Life’s hard, get a helmet…or a therapist! We are all beings walking this earth trying our best and it can be exhausting, confusing, amazing, shocking, or whichever descriptive word you like. This is precisely why I chose to be a therapist.
Sometimes, it’s hard to find a space where you can be vulnerable and find peace and clarity. It is my goal to provide that space for you to do the hard work.
*What to Expect From Our Work Together*
I am interactive in my sessions. What you are willing to put into therapy can determine what you get out of it. Or said another way, the more open you are to sharing, listening, and working on your goals the more you can get out of the process.
My role is to guide you through the tough and scary, be honest with you, and support you. Healing is not linear and can often feel like a roller coaster of emotions and experiences. I will be there to encourage you to push through the ride. I promise, it will be worth it.
*What you Need to Know About Me*
What I have learned in my life, and in my work as a therapist, is that showing up and pushing through fear is your ticket to the life you want. I’ve certainly have gone through things that scare me and that have required me to show up. Each time I did the result was usually better than I expected. I want results for you.
I have grown up in the northwest suburbs in Illinois my whole life. I have a deep love of the city of Chicago and will debate all day that we have the best pizza.
Before finding my calling to counseling I was a licensed cosmetologist and tried my hand in sales. Both provided me with life lessons that I think were necessary before starting the educational path to becoming a licensed therapist. I've been married for 20 years to a veteran and together we have three teenage daughters - yes our hands are full!
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a BA in Psychology and a Masters in Counseling from Northwestern University. I started my educational path with the goal of working with veterans, active duty community, first responders, and the families that are home supporting their loved ones and while I still love this work, I also enjoy working with couples, parents and those healing from trauma.
