Being vulnerable takes tremendous strength and opening yourself up to create an authentic and genuine life requires conviction. Struggles may appear in life at inconvenient times and in ways that make us feel disconnected or “stuck.” These challenges may be related to relationship and health issues, stress, trauma, family turmoil and more. Sometimes the struggle passes, but there are times when it lingers, requiring assistance to move toward happiness.
Taking the first step toward better mental health is courageous, and I would be honored to accompany you on your journey. I approach counseling with humor and grace. Regardless of where we are on life’s journey, we could all use a little more of that. I will listen, witness, and support you on your journey to your best mental health.

Whether I am working with you as an individual or as a couple, I realize no one knows you better than you, and I will listen to your story from a position of kindness and non-judgment because my ultimate goal is to understand you. You may need to step out of your comfort zone now and then, but that is where genuine change happens. We will collaborate on goals and find the best way forward.
In my work with couples I realize it's no secret that relationships can be tough. I mean, who hasn't had the occasional argument or disagreement with their significant other? But sometimes, those disagreements can turn into something more - resentment, anger, and a total lack of intimacy. When that happens, it can feel like you're just going through the motions of a relationship, without any real connection. But that's where I come in. We will work together to find that spark again, solve issues, and come out the other end stronger than ever. It's not always an easy process, but it's one that can be incredibly rewarding.
*What You Need to Know About Me*
I don’t think anyone gets a free pass in life; we all struggle at one time or another. Growth and healing from those struggles shape us into compassionate human beings and give us empathy for others. Our hard times can become our strength and our blessings if we let them.
My husband and I have parented three children, now young adults, and I know that the challenges of one family member often impact the entire family unit. I have empathy for the struggles that children and young adults face but also for the parents who strive to create supportive environments that allow children to thrive in today’s complicated world.
Practicing self-care is essential, and I am continuously working on this. In my free time, I love to hike and find nature to be restorative. A perfect trip for me is a long weekend with friends and family, beautiful scenery, and great conversation. If I can’t have that, I’ll take a Saturday full of college football games!
I earned a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northwestern University. My undergraduate degree is from the University of Illinois, and I also earned a degree in Interior Design while home raising my children. Prior to enrolling in my graduate program, I taught History of Architecture at the College of DuPage and still love the topic as a hobby. I am a member of the American Counseling Association.
